The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) and the Voter Awareness Council (VAC) are pleased to announce that they are co-hosting a non-partisan, unbiased candidate forum on Thursday, April 18, 2019, 7:00 pm at the Lake Creek High School, 20639 FM 2854, Montgomery, TX 77316. Position 6 candidates Kent Pope, Matthew Fuller and Larry Hereford; and Position 7 candidates Russell Messecar and Gary Hammons have all been invited. Early voting is April 22nd through April 30th. Election Day is May 4th. Chamber and VAC officials will be co-hosting and introducing the session but will have no role in the actual forum.
Julie Cannon, General Manager of the Community Impact Newspaper – Conroe / Montgomery Edition will act as forum moderator. Julie will use questions based on the media’s overall awareness of MISD issues, questions submitted to her from anyone prior to the session via email at jcannon@communityimpact.com, and written questions submitted by the audience during the early stages of the forum. Candidates will make opening and closing remarks, answer questions in a round robin question format, and have the opportunity to comment on all questions. Reasonable time constraints will apply throughout the session.
“We are pleased to be working with the Chamber, Community Impact Newspaper and VAC on this opportunity for our residents to gain first-hand information and input from candidates for the MISD Board of Trustees” says MISD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Communications Dr. Sonja Lopez. “Hopefully a large number of people will take advantage of this unbiased forum to aid them in reaching their own voting decisions” adds Dr. Lopez.
