Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District Board of Directors Candidate Forum at the Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce October 25, 2018 Luncheon Meeting
The Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) and the Voter Awareness Council (VAC) are pleased to announce that they are co-hosting a non-partisan, unbiased candidate forum on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Magnolia ISD Event Center located at 11659 FM 1488, Magnolia, TX 77354.
The candidates for the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District (LSGCD) Board of Directors Place 2 (MC Precinct 2) and Place 5 (At-Large) election have been invited (so far 3-yes, 1-no, 1- maybe). Early voting begins October 22nd and Election Day is November 6th.
Chamber and VAC officials will be co-hosting and introducing the session but will have no role in the actual forum. Catherine Dominguez, Managing Editor of The Courier of Montgomery County will act as forum moderator. Catherine will use questions based on the media’s overall awareness of LSGCD issues, questions submitted to her from anyone prior to the session by email at cdominguez@hcnonline.com, and written questions submitted by the audience during the early stages of the forum.
Candidates will make opening and closing remarks, answer questions in a round robin l-r, r-l question format, and have the opportunity to comment on questions addressed to other candidates. Reasonable time constraints will apply throughout the session.
“We are very pleased to be working again with VAC on this opportunity for residents and business owners to gain first-hand information and input from candidates for the LSGCD Board” says Chamber President Sandy Barton. “We also very much appreciate The Courier working with us to ensure that this will be an unbiased, non-partisan forum for our residents to aid them in reaching their own voting decisions” adds Ms. Barton.
VAC is a local non-profit corporation established by a number of Montgomery County residents designed to help encourage and equip citizens to vote. Totally non-partisan and unbiased, VAC’s mission is to inform and educate citizens on our local elections, improve the overall voting experience and to increase voter turnout. See www.vactx.org for more information.
