The City of Shenandoah, Texas and the Voter Awareness Council (VAC) are pleased to announce that they are co-hosting a non-partisan, unbiased candidate forum on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00pm at the Shenandoah City Office located at 29955 I-45 southbound access road.
Six of the seven candidates for the upcoming City Council Positions 2, 3 and 4 May 6th general election will be present. Early voting begins April 24th. One candidate has a schedule conflict and will be unable to attend. Shenandoah and VAC officials will be co-hosting and introducing the session but will have no role in the actual forum.
Marie Leonard, Editor of The Woodlands Edition of the Community Impact Newspaper will act as forum moderator. Marie will use questions based on the media’s overall awareness of Shenandoah issues, questions submitted to her from anyone prior to the session by email at email@example.com, and written questions submitted by the audience during the early stages of the forum.
Candidates will make opening and closing remarks, answer questions in a round robin l-r, r-l question format, and have the opportunity to comment on questions addressed to other candidates. Reasonable time constraints will apply throughout the evening.
“We are very pleased to be working with the Voter Awareness Council on this opportunity for Shenandoah residents to gain first-hand information and input from candidates for positions on their City Council” says Shenandoah Mayor Ritch Wheeler. “We also very much appreciate Community Impact Newspaper working with us to ensure that this will be an unbiased, non-partisan forum for our residents to aid them in reaching their own voting decisions” adds Mayor Wheeler.
